My friend Lyn gave me this recipe l reckon 35 years ago. It was her mother in laws recipe, only handed down if you married into the family. Lyn married into the family and the minute she go the recipe she passed it on to anyone who wanted it. I love it, it’s much easier than making custard, you can double, triple or whatever suits you the recipe. It can be made a couple of days ahead.
- 1 tab butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teas nutmeg
- 1/2 teas cinnamon
- 1 tab plain flour
- Add all the dry ingredients to a saucepan, give it a good stir.
- Stir in 1 cup of boiling water.
It’s a bit like making a gravy, keep stirring, Just heat it up on the day.
